About me:
Hello, I'm Jamie, a fully accredited CBT psychotherapist.
I believe the most important relationship which we often take for granted or give little thought to is the one with ourselves. Life's pressures and complexities, often means we find ourselves under a variety of different demands, influenced by past and present relationships, trying to find a way to reduce our suffering and find contentment and happiness, all experienced with complex and tricky brains which we did not design ourselves. Learning to understand ours minds and reduce unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving can be the vehicle to promote a healthier and more contented version of self.
I have experience working in both the NHS and private practice over the past 6 years, with more than 10 years experience working in a variety of mental health services in different roles. Over this period of time, I have experience working with a wide range of difficulties such as depression; self-esteem based difficulties; GAD; social anxiety; OCD; PTSD. Through further training I have have acquired skills in Compassion Focus Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to allow for a more flexible and individualised approach.
